Energy Clearing Rituals

Have you ever been around someone who is sick, and then noticed a heavy, sick feeling after you left, making it hard for you to breathe? Have you ever been around someone who is negative or angry, and then felt anxious, heavy, and angry too?  When we are around other people, we synchronize with their energies.

Each of us has an invisible energy field around us. We connect with others’ energy fields when we are near them, and their energy can affect how we feel physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Fortunately, we have the abilities to clear our energy from anything toxic or that doesn’t serve us. I would especially recommend that anyone who works with people, whether it be in customer service, teaching, nursing, or something similar, clear their energy at the beginning and at the end of each day. You don’t want to bring the negative energy of others home with you!

Okay, so what exactly do I mean by “clearing energy?” It’s more simple than it might sound! The following are some quick and easy examples of energy clearing practices that you can do on a daily basis.

The Brush Off

This is a simple, quick practice that you can do anytime, anywhere, with the following steps:

Brush the edge of your right hand down the left side of your chest, sweeping it out over your right hip

Brush the edge of your right hand along the length of your left arm, from your upper arm to your wrist

Brush the edge or your left hand along the length of your right arm, from your upper arm to your wrist

Repeat this sequence 3 times. Also, I have been brushing off this negative energy into a bowl of salt water, and then dumping the water. Salt absorbs the negative. Make sure you don’t reuse your bowl for anything else.

Squeegee it off

Similar to the Brush Off, but this ritual involves your whole body, along with adding a mantra. Say, “I cleanse my body, I cleanse my soul,” and then ”brush” yourself off with both hands, starting around your head, moving down your shoulders, torso, arms, and around each leg.

Your hands don’t need to actually touch anything – you can have them a couple of inches above your body.  Brush like you are removing something unwanted, and when at your feet, shake your hands to remove the excess energy.

Repeat this one 3 times.  Again, this is great to do with a bowl of salt water – just shake your hands above the water to fling the negative energy away.

Cleanse

This is another ritual that involves a mantra, and also includes cleansing your spaces. Start by saying the following:

“Any negative energies or entities in or around my mind, body, soul, spirit or aura, leave now, and return to the sun for repolarization.”

Immediately blow a heavy breath out.

Then, say the following:

“Any negative energies or entities in or around my home, vehicle or property leave now and return to the sun for repolarization.”

Blow another heavy breath out.

Bring in the Light

Breathe deeply 3 times. Envision a light coming down through your head, slowly coming down your shoulders, torso, arms, and legs.

With every breath, feel the light grow brighter and stronger.  Then, feel the light grow larger, like a bubble around your body.

Make the bubble as large as you’d like, and give it any color or texture. This is a bubble of protection, and will help you to feel well all day long!

Space Clearing

There are lots of rituals for this one.  Take a stick of incense, a bundle or sage, or a palo santo stick, and walk around the perimeter of each room, letting the smoke trail along the wall.

It’s best if you can start in the lower level of your home, like the basement, and work your way up. You can also use bells or chimes and walk around the perimeter of your space, clearing the stagnant energy.

If you would like a more comprehensive space clearing, you can allow the smoke to start at the bottom of the wall, and wave your sage or incense back and forth up the wall, again starting at the bottom of the house, working your way around every room and inside every closet the best that you can.

It is best if you can physically clean the space, removing excess items and cleaning, before you do this, but sometimes you are in a hurry, and just want to bring in better energy to your environment.

Space clearing can also be done to just a room or an area, and would normally best be done before meditating or starting an important creative project.

These quick, simple energy clearing rituals can be done as often as you feel is needed. Be sure to clear yourself at the beginning and at the end of each day, and see the difference in the energy that you are picking up, and what you learn to leave at the door!
